According to a flight statistics overview conducted by the Icelandic airport administration Isavia, Iceland Express received the poorest punctuality rate amongst airlines serviced at Keflavik International Airport, with only 36 percent of its flights on schedule during June, July and August 2010. Icelandair has decided to move its hub from Glasgow back to Keflavik International Airport from midday and will also stop routing its Icelandic flights through Akureyri at that time. At least three flights from Glasgow are expected to land at Keflavik this afternoon. Read the full story

The power of the Eyjafjallajokull eruption has remained stable for at least the last two days according to emergency co-ordinators in South Iceland. The volcanic cloud has swung round to the northwest of the glacier today, but there is little ash fall. The cloud has become lighter in colour, indicating more steam and less ash. Read the full story

The Reykjanes District Court in southwest Iceland has awarded budget airline Iceland Express ISK 18.7 million (USD 145,500) from Keflavik International Airport’s flight services division. The payment is compensation for damage sustained in December 2007 to an aeroplane leased to Iceland Express and was awarded to cover the cost of the replacement plane the airline leased while repairs took place. Britain’s best-selling newspaper, The Sun has printed a positive travel review from Iceland. Iceland got the metaphorical thumbs-up from travel writer Zoe Street Howe.
She took her trip to Iceland for the Reykjavik Jazz Festival at the end of August. The jazz is very much the core of the article, but Howe certainly tried to fit in as much as she could.

Iceland Express, the low cost airline providing cheap flights to and from Reykjavik, has released its summer timetable for 2009. The new schedule sees the airline increase its destination list to include 19 major European cities.
Iceland Express passengers are already able to book cheap flights to Iceland from new destinations such as Cyprus, Geneva and Krakow on the airline’s website. Read the full story
