During the school year 2007-2008, 3,588 students graduated from high school and a further 3,611 at higher level education in Iceland. Statistics Iceland (Hagstofa Islands) reported that since the beginning of data collection back in 1995, there have never before been so many students graduating in just one school year. In 2009, according to the eighth survey on the use of Information and Communications technology by Statistics Iceland (Hagstofa Islands) 92 percent of Icelandic households had a computer with 90 percent of them all having access to the Internet. Read the full story

According to information released by Statistics Iceland (Hagstofa Islands), there were 555 Icelandic companies declared bankrupt in the first 8 months of 2009, but in the first 8 months of 2008 there were just 470 companies declared bankrupt.
