The eruption at southeast Iceland’s Grimsvotn volcano has been getting steadily weaker since yesterday. The ash plume is now reaching a height of three-to-five kilometres and the production of volcanic material is massively lower than at the weekend. Read the full story

The erupting Grimsvotn volcano in southeast Iceland forced the closure of Icelandic airports yesterday to avert any possbile danger posed to aircraft by volcanic ash. The country’s biggest airport is now scheduled to re-open this afternoon with extra flights to clear the backlog. Read the full story
