Iceland and the West Nordics in travel marketing push


detifossThe Vestnorden Travel Mart is a joint project of the Greenlandic, Faroese and Icelandic tourist boards. The honour of holding the event rotates between the countries and this year Greenland is in charge of presenting the show, which will be in Copenhagen on 16 and 17 September. Euro wanted as currency in Faroe Islands


faroese euroThe Faroe Islands currently use the Danish krone (DKK) as their local currency; however, the Sjalvstyrisflokkurin (Independence Party of the Faroe Islands) has applied for establishing the euro as the national currency. Icelanders thank their island neighbour the Faroe Islands


the Faroe IslandsOver 20.000 Icelanders have signed their name on a special web page thanking the Faroe Islands for their support in the form of a 6 billion ISK loan.

On the web page it says that it is a venue for Icelanders to thank the Faroese for their generosity and willingness to help Iceland in these difficult times. Read the full story
