Greenland will continue to use the Danish krone as its currency after the ruling government declined to adopt the National Bank’s new printed notes. Speaking in the latest parliamentary session Juliane Henningsen, political spokeswoman for the Innuit Ataqatigiit Party has said that the government will introduce a proposal to clarify its position on the currency debate. The Faroe Islands currently use the Danish krone (DKK) as their local currency; however, the Sjalvstyrisflokkurin (Independence Party of the Faroe Islands) has applied for establishing the euro as the national currency. The application was sent to the Central Bank of the European Union on Wednesday. Read the full story
