An Icelandic woman received a court order to return to the United States with her two children before the next coming Sunday. Borghildur Gudmundsdottir had the two children with an American soldier who wants to have custody over the children in the United States. Gudmundsdottir told Morgunbladid she wonders if it is considered alright to throw Icelanders out from their own country “like throwing out old rags”. She continued, asking who has the right to kick two children out of a country and strip all security and safety from their mother. Her children are aged 10 and five and are said to be doing well in school and life in Iceland. Read the full story

Sweden’s Supreme Court has set a new legal precedent that makes it harder for alleged victims of rape to convict their attackers. The precedent was cited recently when a western Swedish appeals court overturned the conviction of a man who had been found guilty of rape in May. Read the full story

A 32-year-old woman has been sentenced to six years in prison for raping a woman in her 60s in the northern Swedish town of Haparanda.

According to reports in The Local, the woman committed the crime with her 38-year-old brother. The pair entered the victim’s home and punched and kicked her. They were reportedly armed with a knife and forced the victim to perform oral sex upon each of them, as well as forcing her to masturbate herself.

In addition to the break-in and the rape, the pair also robbed the victim and kept her hostage until the following day.

The attack took place on 24th January, and the brother of the guilty woman remains at large. In her defence, the woman says she was in Finland when the attack occurred.
