Iceland’s most famous musical secret, Bubbi Morthens, is to play a one-off gig in Copenhagen’s Falconer Salen on Saturday 18 October.
Bubbi is probably the most famous Icelander not to be recognised outside his home country: he is a domestic star extraordinaire and one of Iceland’s favourite sons.
Singing mostly in Icelandic, Bubbi’s musical styles make an impressive list from rock to country, and even reggae and rap. The star’s famous ego means he speaks his mind and always puts on a great show – just two of the reasons he is so esteemed.

The Icelandic news publication Morgunbladid will be showing tomorrow’s free outdoor concert with Sigur Ros and Bjork live on its website at mbl.is.
The Nattura (nature) concert kicks off at 5pm GMT in Laugadalur, Reykjavik and finishes at 10pm. On the programme are Icelandic music artists Olof Arnalds and Ghostigital, as well as the legendary Bjork and Sigur Ros – two of Iceland’s most famous musical exports.
The idea behind the concert is to raise awareness of the impact of growing aluminum smelting activity on the Icelandic landscape. On her website Bjork says that, “Our politicians must not get away with working against nature. We have to keep them on their toes. The damage could be too great, much greater than the short term profit.”
Up to 40,000 people are expected to attend the free concert. Admission will also be free to the nearby zoo and Laugardalslaug swimming pool where concert goers will be able to use the bathroom facilities.
To see the webcast of the Sigur Ros and Bjork concert, visit www.mbl.is from 7pm GMT on Saturday 28th June.

Music legend Bob Dylan has been confirmed to perform in Reykjavik on May 26th, reports Iceland Review, making it the second time one of the most revered names in music will appear before an Icelandic audience.
Dylan last performed in Reykjavik in 1990, and hasn’t appeared in Iceland since, despite countless world tours over the years. Dylan represents one of the last of a breed of performers who can tour the world time and time again to sell-out crowds. With Iceland’s small population, it takes a name as big as Dylan to ensure turn-around profits from travel and set-up costs in Reykjavik.
The former 60s folk singer and prolific poet will appear at the Egilsholl Sports Hall, a venue with a seating capacity of 13,000. The promoter which made the concert possible, Isleifur G. Thorhallsson, said he has been working hard for two years to bring one of his musical heroes to his home country. When asked about Dylan’s current tour, Thorhallsson replied, “He is in excellent form and performs the songs people want to hear. So he has been acclaimed both by audiences and critics.”
