Muslim homestay vacations offered in Thailand

Muslim homestayAndaman Camp and Cruise, a family-run Thai travel agency which has been organizing tours in south Thailand for over five years, is now offering its customers the chance to stay with local Thai Muslim families.

Bang Eh and his family are hosting foreign visitors in their home near the town of Ao Nang in the province of Krabi. While staying with them, guests can take part in a number of activities in the local area, such as making Thai candy, exploring pineapple and sugar cane plantations, taking Thai cooking lessons and seeing how rubber is cut and processed.

The owners of Andaman Camp & Cruise, Australian-born Elizabeth and Thai husband Sun, are keen that visitors to the Krabi region get the most authentic experience possible. For this reason they say their Muslim homestay offers an insight into how local people live at home as well as on the farm.

The Krabi tour company is also a vocal supporter of the longtail boat, a traditional Thai wooden sailing boat which is in danger of dying out. By electing to take sightseeing trips on a longtail boat instead of a speedboat, tourists help support the many families in Ao Nang whose livelihoods depend on the boats as well as preserving their traditional way of life.

The white beaches and clear waters of Krabi are already well known to Scandinavians, who have holidayed in the area for well over 30 years. Andaman Camp and Cruise specializes in custom-made tours of Krabi and the Andaman Sea region and arranges all aspects of trips including activities, food and accommodation.

Tundra to Thailand: trekking south for Sun

thai-village1The Krabi tours from Andaman Camp and Cruise attract people from all over the world – but since the company’s inception (when it was called Krabi Island Tours) it has built up a special relationship with its Scandinavian customers.

South Thailand has attracted Scandinavian visitors for more than 30 years. When Sun and his Australian wife Elizabeth started Andaman Camp and Cruise, two of their first customers were a Swedish couple, Johnny and Monika, from the famous Arvidsjaur district in the sub-arctic tundra region of northern Sweden.

Andaman Camp and Cruise’s traditional Thai longtail boat allowed the Swedes to visit every island in the area. When they asked for more, Sun decided to show them Krabi – his home village, including his family and the renowned local countryside. And so the new breed of Krabi tours with the personal touch was born.

Johnny gave Sun a T-shirt of his hometown in Sweden, where he is a local Adversjaur council officer. An instant favourite, Sun wore it until it literally fell apart.

“Johnny and Monika kept in contact with us and sent many of their friends and colleagues to us,” Elizabeth recalls. “And Johnny even posted the story of Sun’s favourite T-shirt on the official Arvidsjaur website.” And to Sun and Elizabeth’s pleasure, the Swedish pair finally returned to Krabi this year with a fresh supply of T-shirts and an appetite for adventure.

Andaman Camp and Cruise offers long and short tours of Krabi, as well as expeditions in the wider Andaman Sea region of south Thailand. The company has built up a reputation for its authentic custom-made holidays and as local specialists for the Scandinavian travel trade. The company’s website is in both English and Swedish.

Inspired Gaming International (Inspired) today announces a large-scale roll-out of its Open Server-Based Gaming (Open SBG) Multi-Content terminals across Asia. Inspired will be working on this deployment in conjunction with Silver Heritage Limited (SHL), one of the leading operators of terminals to licensed gaming premises in the Asia-Pacific region. The two companies will deploy over 250 terminals across the continent during the next few months, with many to be sited in Holiday Group Casinos, the largest chain of casinos in South East Asia.

Inspired’s Open SBG system allows casino operators to select and schedule from a range of electronic gaming content thus offering a multi-content experience to their customers from any single Inspired terminal. Content includes Inspired’s award winning Multi-Win Roulette, which offers customers options to play on up to four live or automated roulette wheels simultaneously, as well as Poker, Virtual Sports and Blackjack Games.

The innovative content is complimented by a range of different terminal designs, optimised for each casino floor. The E-Bar incorporates the monitor into a sleek bar top, whilst the E-Banquette caters for new casino trends and environments by integrating the hardware into coffee tables.

Powered by Inspired’s Open SBG platform, all of the terminals are centrally managed over a broadband network, providing the ability to download content remotely as well as monitor incomes, fault and play data in real-time.

“We are excited to keep up the momentum in our expansion into Asia through this roll-out,” commented Anne de Kerckhove, Managing Director of Inspired Gaming International. “The terminals, with their award winning technology, offer something unique for Asia that will revolutionise the casino market. The wide range of content on the terminals provides players with a great gaming experience, whilst ensuring high revenues per position for our casino operators.”

Mike Bolsover, Director of Business Development at SHL, added: “To compliment our position as one of the market leaders in the provision of managed gaming solutions for the Asia-Pacific casino market, we only look to forge partnerships with companies who can supply the best products to our customers. With its innovative multi-game terminals, Inspired proved a natural choice of partner for us.”

Norman Crowley, co-CEO of Inspired Gaming Group, concluded: “This is a significant step towards one of our key objectives for the year, international growth. Inspired will benefit from long-term participation agreements for the deployment of these terminals, securing consistent and recurring revenues.”
