For information on the May 2011 eruption at Grimsvotn, please check the IceNews homepage for regular updates) The gas cloud from South Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcanic eruption reached a height of ten kilometres yesterday evening before settling back to six kilometres. Gunnar Gudjonsson at the Icelandic Meteorological Office told Visir.is that the volcano is producing large amounts of ash again and the cloud is darker than in previous days. Read the full story

Activity at South Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano last night is described as ‘gentle’ and the current force of the eruption is barely 20 percent of its peak. All indications suggest that the volcano is only now erupting from one of its three craters. Read the full story
