A Swedish couple, with a history of marking triple dates with life-changing moments, tied the knot last Sunday along with hundreds of others hoping for happy marriages. Charlotte Lofquist and Tobias Schonstrom got engaged on 06/06/2006, had twin boys on 09/09/2009 and got married last Sunday on 10/10/2010 in Svedala, southern Sweden.
“For us, there was no other choice. All the other dates were just wrong,” said Charlotte in an interview with newspaper Expressen. “The engagement on 06/06/06 we could control, but not the little ones coming,” she added.
Charlotte and Tobias were not the only ones, however, as other couples from around the country and all over the world flooded churches with requests to hold their big days on the auspicious date. The number 10 represents 100 percent luck and rebirth, according to numerology.
Despite this, many couples shied away from getting married in a church on Sunday, according to Malmo’s Church of Sweden information director Helene Rosdahl. Saturday, September 7, 2007, was the most popular day for nuptials in the country, when 1,993 couples walked down the aisle. Friday, August 8, 2008, followed closely behind with 1,939 weddings.
