Wikileaks told to hand over remaining Afghan documents

The American Department of Defence today issued an order for Wikileaks to hand over the rest of the secret documents it says it has yet to publish about the war in Afghanistan.

Wikileaks says it has a further 15,000 top secret documents as yet not revealed to the public, RUV reports. A defence spokesman said in a press conference that he hopes Wikileaks’ owners will comply with the order and hand the documents over immediately. The website recently caused a global media stir by releasing over 90,000 classified documents about the Afghan war on its website which appear to show the war is not going as hoped for by US authorities.

American officials have criticised the website harshly for its decision, saying that the release of the documents puts American lives in danger.

Iceland has also come in for criticism over the strong support some of its MPs have offered Wikileaks; the fact that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is a key advocate of the new Iceland Modern Media Initiative; and the fact that one of Wikileaks’ many international webservers is allegedly located in the country.

Stay strong and do not back down. The US has no right to demand the rest of the world listen to its propaganda as it kills 10 civilians for every militant killed, orders its own citizens to be killed and continues an ever more dangerous obsession with changing the whole of the world through conquest.

    Hi Fisy,

Thanks, as always, for reading and commenting on IceNews. You will notice a small mistake has been corrected in the part of the article you quote from: “he hopes that…” has been added in. It always should have been like that and the error unfortunately changed the meaning of the whole sentence.

    Regards
