Icelandic coastguard helps French yacht in distress

This morning an Icelandic coastguard patrol ship was in the right place at the right time to assist a French yacht with “some sort of debris” stuck in its propeller.

According to Visir.is, the propeller is now fixed and both boats are under way again.

According to the coastguard, the patrol ship was on regular duty nearby when the three crew on board the yacht radioed in for assistance. Luckily the weather is very good all around Iceland so there was no immediate danger and coastguard divers were easily able to get down under the boat and remove the debris; a process which took just five minutes.

  1. That was lucky it was only something stuck that took five minutes to sort really. It could have been a lot worse. That coast guard ship Thor looks amazing.
