A week after Iceland’s local elections, the capital city has a new mayor – and as expected it is comedian and head of the Best Party, Jon Gnarr.
Gnarr’s party received more votes than any other but fell short of a majority. The party will form a coalition in Reykjavik with Dagur B. Eggertsson’s Social Democrats but the details of the coalition are not yet finalised.
The pair have already firmly agreed that Jon Gnarr will be Mayor of Reykjavik and Eggertsson will be chairman of the city council.
