American-Icelandic author on book tour in Iceland

sunley-christinaThe American author Christina Sunley is in Iceland to promote her novel set in the country, The Tricking of Freya. Although critically acclaimed in North America, Sunley is virtually unknown in Iceland and aims to change that this month.

Christina Sunley has previously been interviewed about her book here on IceNews.

The critically acclaimed Tricking of Freya has been selling well in North America and has recently been translated into Icelandic, called Freyjuginning and translated by Thordis Bachmann.

Christina Sunley has Icelandic ancestry and her novel is a look into Icelandic culture from the point of view of the people who emigrated from the country at the end of the 19th Century, taking parts of their culture with them to the New World. The book is set in Iceland and in the Icelandic-settled parts of Canada.

During her stay Christina Sunley will present her book:

Tomorrow (Monday) at 16.30 in the National Culture House on Hverfisgata in Reykjavik (reading and coffee),

On Tuesday at 16.00 in the Reykjavik Academy on Hringbraut (reading and discussion/debate),

Sunday 6th June at the Gunnar Gunnarsson Centre, Skriduklaustur in Egilsstadir (reading and chat),

And on Wednesday 9th June at 17.00 at Amtsbokasafn library in Akureyri (reading and chat).

The book will be on sale at a special price during the above events.
