The Mad Bomber hat company in the USA has decided it would like to offer everyone in Iceland one of its warm hats this coming winter at roughly cost price, or USD 10. Why? To apologise for the American ‘Wild West Banking” which helped a small number of Icelanders bring their country’s economy to its knees.
Chairman Brent Reynolds explained that they are already active in areas including Muslim-American and Chinese-American relations and wanted to find a way of improving Icelandic-American relations.
Reynolds explains that: “We should help Icelanders in some way since our economy and Wild West banking led us down this disastrous path. Looking at our different companies we felt Mad Bomber® would be the best apology and “hang in there” opportunity. If we can partner with an Icelandic company we would love to deliver the bombers® starting December 1 for Christmas or maybe bit before….”
This offer is not a gimmick, Reynolds says – adding that it is a genuine effort to do something that people will really appreciate. The company wants to gauge public reception of the idea and secure the services of an Icelandic partner company before committing to the provision of ‘hat aid’.

I’m sure this company makes very nice and warm hats, but so does Iceland! I still have my sheepskin hat that I bought there while on honeymoon in 2004. I call it “Hrothgar”.
I have an better idea. Each American is going to spend 100 $ for the Icelandic Economy and the problem is over. Therefore each American coming to visit Iceland will get an 10% discount on everything for the next 5 years….
Well, I don’t think you are going to get such an offer from Britain/Europe which should share some of the blame too.
The gesture is nice but not necessary. It is hardly the “wild west” spending that put us into this position since we would have never put ourselves in this position if it wasn’t for our “inferior complex” toward our oil neighbors such as Denmark and Norway. Americans try to keep up with the JONESES, Islanders try to keep up with the JØNNSENS.
