A man and two women who were travelling in the same car in the south of Iceland not far from the volcano got separated and lost. Hundreds of people took part in the search, as well as dogs and helicopters.
One of the women is now in hospital; and is set to be allowed home today. The second woman and the man have both died.
Their identities have not been released by authorities, but it is know that the surviving woman was born in 1977 and the woman who lost her life was born in 1967.

Just don’t travel unprepared on your own the weather conditions isn’t always as shown in tourist brochures
Reading the newspaper, I can hardly believed that the Three (3) lost – 2 died and 1 survived after walking on foot all most 14 kms. were all residents of Reykjavik. Maybe they were just too confident, eager and excited to be out of town free after a long winter. My condolence and take care.
– To those who are planning to go on a trip please do be prepared for whatever eventuallity. As to the weather in Iceland, ” Just you wait and see”. The terrain is strange, colorful, vague but beautiful. A haven for lovers of nature.
Do have a nice trip.
Survival guide:
-GPS
-Satellite Phone (not much more expensive than a fancy smartphone)
-Spare Batteries/Car Charger
-Solar and/or Crank Charger
-Knowledge to use the above
-All of the above is almost more valuable than food or extra blankets as it can get rescue teams to you in minutes from anywhere with a view of the sky.
…It may seem expensive or troublesome until you are dying of exposure. This is no joke people. Do not go into high risk wilderness without long term experience or proper guides and tools. This means glaciers, volcanos and even the highlands (anywhere off the ring road that is not populated).
