This morning begins a very high profile weekend for the internet in Iceland with today’s Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference and the accompanying high-tech expo which runs until Sunday.
Both the Reykjavik Internet Marketing Conference (RIMC) and the Netid expo are taking place at Smaralind shopping centre’s Winter Garden indoor arena and in the Smarabio Cinema, which is in the same building.
RIMC is now in its fifth outing and all tickets sold out long before the day. In the current business climate companies appear to be more enthusiastic than ever to optimise their use of the web and make sure they are not losing out to competitors online.
Speakers this year come from expert online brands including Microsoft/Bing, Ericsson, Beyond Ink, CCP Games (famous for Eve Online) and SEMPO, the international Search Engine Marketing Professional Organisation.
RIMC is organised by Nordic eMarketing, a leading online marketing company; and mbl.is, the most popular Icelandic language website.
While conference tickets are indeed sold out, visitors to Smaralind’s Winter Garden will be able to browse the expo and ask the experts questions until Sunday.

I think that if a business is not making use of the internet and having a website these days they are really missing out. You almost have to have an internet presence. No wonder the conference was completely sold out.

Internet marketing is now a worldwide fad. Everyone should be given opportunity especially in Iceland where businesses can improve their marketing strategies by engaging into internet marketing, and social media marketing to improve their business’s online presence.
I have been learning and applying Internet Marketing for over a year now. I have this Blog which I post to occasionally, I have a Subscriber List which is growing at a steady rate and I now know a lot of very good marketers which I can learn from and which we can leverage from each other. I also make a bit of money out of this, not a huge amount but I haven’t really been focussed on the monetisation aspect of it – the last thing I want to do is to shove loads of paid offers down the throats of my subscribers as it is of my belief that ….whilst I am trying to ultimately make a living out of this, I am fully aware that I must deliver content and value to my subscribers in order that they can learn from me and move forward, we are Internet Marketers – NOT Internet Sellers.
