Icesave negotiations to continue next week?

londonThe British and Dutch authoritites have apparently indicated that they will be willing to hold more Icesave talks next week.

Icelandic Finance Minister Steingrimur J. Sigfusson revealed this information while speaking on television last night, saying the British and Dutch intend to hold back from discussions while today’s referendum goes ahead; but are ready to continue the process next week.

Meanwhile the referendum on the December Icesave law is happening right now. Initial results are expected to appear shortly after the polls close this evening. Icelanders are widely predicted to vote against the controversial repayment deal with the UK and the Netherlands.

Is there a need for further negotiations after the referendum ? How long ? What for ? Would it be trilateral and neutral after the referendum ?
What would be prevailing result ? Negotiations or referendum ? Further delay is default, more expenses incurred. Means of payment, duration, interest and other points to ponder. ? Why prolong the agony and hardship ?

    Yes!

The referendum votes down the old offer. The new offer is better, and the negotiating positions are getting closer.

Please icelanders, start ordering “The Miracle Book”, you announce at your OMEGA tv, because you are going to really need it!! And pray!! HAHAHAHAHAHA… I cant stop laughing when I go to the street and see Icelanders in their nice expensive cars but with such a face of “I don´t sleep anymore”… Once THE RICHEST PEOPLE IN THE WORLD, and now low educated fish workers with HUGE DEBTS FOR LIFE!!!

A blody shame and an example of ‘legal’and ‘garanteed’ gredyness over the heads of mutual people and taxpayers in both coutries.
People in Holland went for high and guarateed rates where disaster could be forseen. I fully agree with your ‘NO’ while I regret that I will have to pay for it as Dutch tax-payer. Mutual and political disaster !

  5. Anthony says:

Be careful how long you refuse to repay your debts or the British and Dutch might have to take the payment in kind……………extending fishing zones? Escorting fishing trawlers with the Royal Navy. Remember that?
