I think it is unfair to simply assume the Danes are “Racist” they are understandably worried about their country loosing its identity. While immigrants (mostly islamic) make up a very small percentage of Danish society (maybe 7%), they make up a much larger percentage (around 40%) of the people relying on Denmark’s excellent welfare system. Immigrants have a much harder time integrating into Danish society, choosing instead to create small pockets of their own cultures within Denmark, where they even refuse to speak anything but their own language. Faced with this, and a growing culture voicing their distaste with Denmark’s “liberal and free” ideals, while simultaneously taking advantage of Denmark’s open and free economic system, they seem to have little more choice than to protect themselves. If these people want so badly to spread their own culture, language, religion and ideals, they can feel free to do it in their own country.
