The Icelandic men’s handball team landed yesterday at Reykjavik Domestic Airport and were welcomed by the Prime Minister and others.
Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir, culture minister Katrin Jakobsdottir and Reykjavik Mayor Hanna Birna Kristjansdottir were all on hand to welcome the bronze medal winning handball squad home from Austria.
There was a reception for the players held in the early evening in Laugardalsholl, where team coaches Snorri Steinn Gudjonsson and Gudmundur Gudmundsson told RUV they are very happy with the Icelandic team’s showing at the European Handball Championships.
