Generating goodwill towards Iceland

bill-og-olafur-littleBill Clinton yesterday told Icelandic president Olafur Ragnar Grimsson that he talks positively about Iceland almost everywhere he goes. The pair met at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Olafur Ragnar Grimsson says he is generating goodwill towards Iceland and its economic situation from politicians and businesspeople from all over the world, Visir.is reports.
Grimsson is in regular contact with Bill Clinton and has many business and political contacts globally and may be trying to recruit Clinton as a potential mediator in the Icesave issue.

Inspite of all the financial problems of Iceland there are still lots of things you have to be gratefull. Foremost, is the peace and order situation. Icelanders are peace loving, kind, independent, advance educated, friendly people and hard working. These are excellent assets for survival in the global community. Once again, trust and confidence has to be developed for a reliable and improved business atmosphered.
Tourism is another asset considering that the medium of exchanged (kronur) has devalued. Therefore, the international market has to be targeted for more in-coming tourist. Wake up Icelander. This may be a blessing in disguise.

Yes Iceland does have peace and order. However, I think this is basically because the “fight” has been slowly beaten out of them for generations.

I am afraid you are mistaken in your statement “Icelanders are peace loving, kind, independent, advance educated, friendly people and hard working.” Hey, but peace loving and friendly are true enough.

Given the current steering of the government I think we may miss the “trust and confidence” boat as well.

Looks like Doom and Gloom on the horizon.

Oh, poo to Mr BANKRUPT NATION – simply defies logic. If you are a foreigner in Iceland and are surrounded by crooks and people that look down on you then what exactly has kept you there for ten years?

Aside from that, I *AM* a foreigner who has lived in Iceland for two years now and can say I have never been surrounded by a more wonderful group of people. Do they have their quirks? Yes… and thank God. But at heart they are family and community driven by a long ingrained sense of survival and knowing which battles to fight. And in my experience they are not the sort to nitpick or squabble over most things. Things most westerners would 8and do) bitch and argue about ad nauseum. So the fact that the people are now standing up to have their voices heard is worth noticing. And worth resepcting. Anyone familiar with these people know they don’t blow smoke. (As a people, that is. Naturally, politicians and executives are the bain of many cultures including notably, Iceland)

    Áfram Ísland.

Not taking BN’s side – he clearly has issues. But the importation of a black sportsman does not counter his point. It just means that attitudes have changed since the 50s (IIRC), when black American servicemen were not welcome in the country, let alone treated equally. (That in itself is not an attack on Iceland – I suspect that in the 50s black servicemen weren’t welcome in much of the US).

Sounds like BM is homesick. Sorry you miss your country. Hope you find happiness somewhere.
