Germany’s ambassador to Reykjavik, Dr. Karl-Ulrich Muller, has been found dead in his car near Skagafjordur in northern Iceland yesterday.
Muller left Reykjavik on Sunday and headed north and police and search and rescue teams began looking for him yesterday. His car was found with the help of a coastguard helicopter.
According to police, not much is yet known about the accident other than that the car was found on its roof in the Nordura river. The accident is being investigated like any other serious traffic accident.
Dr. Muller has been the German ambassador in Iceland since August 2007.

This is a tragedy.
Dr. Karl-Ulrich Müller was a fairly young man and not only is it very sad to see any person go, but that makes it even more upsetting — condolences go out to his family.
His car was found on its roof in the Norðurá river ( famous for its salmon ) by coast guard helicopter search. That is in the valley Norðurárdal in in Skagafirði and he was driving on his way to capital of the north, Akureyri.
Weather was not good Sunday; high winds can blow you car off road. If he was in American SUV then maybe it black box will be able to tell what happened.

Yes, its a tragedy. But sorry Fizy, the ambassador was nearly 65, which is not really young. The tragic thing about it is, that with 65 he would have reached the retirement age…
terrible news and my condoleances to his beloved ones.
only the banner for car rentals is in my believing not really apropiate.
Frans,
I agree with both of your sentences and would like to echo your condolences to Dr. Müller’s family.
I would also like to point out that the car rental advertisement banner is currently appearing in all articles and was certainly not inserted into this piece individually. If you return to this same article in a month or two, it is possible you will find that the advertisement has changed to something else.
Thank you for your comment.
