What is needed is a national program to enhance this specie, that is, increase its numbers. This applies to other woodland birds, grouse, pheasants., etc. The success of the Ducks Unlimited group with the highly successful drive to increase the populations of many species of North American ducks, the astonishing success of the programme to reintroduce the wild turkey to eastern Canada and the north eastern states of U.S.A, where they had been hunted to extinction, and most of all the successful introduction of pheasants from China to North America, demonstrates that carefully managed, these efforts can give enormous returns. Not least of all, economic returns.

At this time, it seems to me that every niche that can benefit Iceland economically and reduce its dependence on imports should be considered.
