“Hotel Loftleidir got in touch with us on Tuesday in a bit of a panic because they didn’t have a big enough chair for the Guinness Book of Records tallest man to sit on. We has only 48 hours to make the chair and were working more than a little on guesswork,” said Erlendur Sigurdsson, director on GA Furniture. “It was exciting to see how it worked out.”
The company was asked to create a special chair for Sultan Kosen the Guinness World Record holding tallest man in the world, who visited Iceland last week. Kosen, who comes from Turkey, is roughly two-and-a-half metres tall.
Gretar Arnason, who founded GA Furniture in 1975 told Visir.is that the project was a curious one – but only one of several interesting things the company has been involved in over the years.
“The salmon skin wall we did for Hotel Thingholt was very special; where we created special tiles with 580 salmon skins. We also created a special sofa for the world expo in 2000, and other things. We’ve ended up in all sorts of projects,” Arnason said.
GA Furniture made it known that Kosen, the Guinness World Records tallest man, was welcome to take the chair home with him if he chose.

wow…so nice…i think many people are also intrested of that….
Wow! A chair produced in 48 hours. This man must have felt like a King for the day. Albeit, a very tall King. From the picture, the chair looks very nice, though I am not sure that it would fit in my home.
Cheers! Great work.
Blimey, that guy/chair is massive?! I wonder where he gets all his other furniture?! lol
