Many companies in danger of collapse

recessionA total of 22 companies listed on the Copenhagen stock exchange are in danger of going bankrupt. Two of the companies have strong ties to Iceland: the Faroese oil company Atlantic Petroleum and the Danish brewer Royal Unibrew, in which Stodir (formerly FL Group) holds a 16 percent stake and Straumur holds five percent.

A roundup of the companies on the Danish stock exchange in danger of going under was published in the Danish financial publication Finansielle Rating. The list was compiled from the companies’ 2008 financial reports and other public announcements the companies have released since, MBL.is reports.

According to the Danish business paper, Borsen, Atlantic Petroleum and two other Danish companies are in particularly grave danger of getting into trouble. Royal Unibrew is, on the other hand, much further down the list. The report makes sure to mention that it is still much too early to write off any of the companies; but that they all have a lot to do to secure their financial futures.

Of course: less Føroya Bjór export to Iceland AND less oil from Statoil (Some people were unwilling to let drill their land – e.g. Lofoten)
