Iceland-bound jet makes safe emergency landing

airplaneTwo teams of volunteers from the emergency response unit of the Southwest Iceland Red Cross were on site to welcome passengers aboard a troubled flight.

The plane was en route from Paris to Reykjavik when it was forced to make an emergency landing at Gatwick in London.

The 148 passengers had to wait at Gatwick for Icelandair and Iceland Express aircraft to come and pick them up and take them to Iceland, landing at Keflavik at 1.45 and 03.00 Friday morning. Several French passengers are said to have returned straight home from London on the train.

According to Red Cross officials, the remaining passengers dealt with their ordeal remarkably well.

I wonder where could they make the emergency landing if trouble showed up when they were somewhere on the Atlantic between Britain and Iceland………perhaps Faroe Island?

  4. Bromley86 says:

Yep, although it’s likely qualify as a crash landing (the runway is too short normal commercial jets).

Or they could use our Rockall airbase :D .
