The pan-Nordic lottery (Viking Lotto) could be about to give away its biggest ever jackpot this evening. Europe’s oldest transnational lottery draws players from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden and takes place every Wednesday evening.
According to mbl.is, tonight’s jackpot will be around ISK 1,770 million (USD 13.8 million).
An Icelandic lottery representative told mbl.is that the pot looks especially big in Iceland because it is converted to Icelandic kronur from the euro, and the krona is especially weak against the euro at the moment. In addition to this, Viking lottery sales have increased noticeably since the beginning of the global economic crisis.
Tickets for the Viking Lottery must be bought before 16.00 each Wednesday (GMT).
