Happy Easter to all IceNews readers! We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for reading our site and for contributing your thoughts and comments to our articles. We like to think IceNews has become something of a little community where those interested in Nordic goings-on can come together.
Maybe that’s a bit romanticised, who knows; but this is the time of year for ridiculous optimism and for cheerfulness in the face of adversity. The flowers are blooming and the chocolate eggs are being eaten, after all!
Here in Iceland we have a five-day weekend, encompassing Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday. Therefore, you might find the speed of service round here a little slower than usual. For this we apologise, but promise that comments will dealt with as soon as possible.
Once again, on behalf of the IceNews team, enjoy your Easter to the fullest – wherever you are and whether you are celebrating the festival of Easter now or not.

Thank you for the greetings and this year Easter is on 19 April according to the Orthodox Church.
