In Germany it has been revealed that Kiel, one of the strongest teams in Europe, apparently bribed referees in order to win the handball champion's league. In this article it is mentioned that Kiel paid more than 56000 euro to some shady croatian "bussinessman" who afterwards flew to Warsaw where one of the referees for the final was living.
