David Oddsson, former head of the Central Bank of Iceland (CBI), gave a controversial speech to the Independence Party conference on Saturday. In the speech Oddsson accused his replacement Svein Harald Oygard of either lying or suffering from a very serious case of Alzheimer’s disease.
According to Oddsson, it was not very confidence-inspiring when he (Oygard) said he couldn’t remember when the job was first discussed with him at his first press meeting as Director of the Central Bank. That’s quite outlandish and very dangerous, he said.
“He is either suffering from an advanced case of Alzheimer’s, or he told a shameless lie in his very first opportunity to talk to the Icelandic public,” Oddsson said. “I personally hope it is Alzheimer’s, so he can at least forget about the pitiful situation this useless minority coalition government has put him in,” he continued.
He said there are many shortcomings in the laws which have been passed over recent weeks and months, as illustrated by the fall of Straumur Bank shortly after his own removal from the CBI. In his speech Oddsson said that he knew a lot about the background of Straumur which the new governor could not, “Especially at a time when the Financial Supervisory Authority was headless following the howling malpractice of the former Minister of Commerce,” he said. “We can see the same thing with regard to SPRON and Sparisjodabanki now.”
When asked to comment, the Green Party leader and current Minister of Finance Steingrimur J. Sigfusson said Oddsson’s words will do no real harm to either Oygard or the CBI: “No, these are comments which condemn only him,” he said to Frettabladid.
As time goes by, Oddsson seems more and more like a crazy old aunt that all the other relatives have to tolerate at meal times. It’s time to put Oddsson in a care home in the far east of Iceland. And sedate him so he doesn’t do any damage when he’s awake.

This is exactly what he is trying to do get attention and media off course is playing its rolle. This is just a game of good cop bad cop but they are all playing for the same team, the 33 rich and wealthy families that control this “nation”, now these same people is useing him and the media to put preassure on the central bank gobernor to keep on doing what odsson was doing USEING THE LITTLE NATIONAL RESERVES to put the krona down so they can import cheaper and people keep on consumeing, but all these with the little money of the nation, so at the end when the reserves finally run-out, the krona finally goes to hell but they have been once again makeing buissiness with the money of the people, and they have all their money in forign currency, so “the hell with the regular people” Check this article:

This aricle makes 2 things very clear: ome that the krona was not getting stronger but David odsson was injecting money from the national reservs to buy kronas, something that from the bigining the goberent said they wer not going to do. Number two the “buisseness man that controll the country want to keep on buying cheap euros at the expenses of the nation. This guy is doing the right thing, letting the krona take it real value, I know it going to be hard to cope with the krona at 230-300 per euro, but the sooner we let things take its natural course the sooner we can restart to bulit our country, otherwise we are just prolonging the agony, the krona WILL fall, there is nothing they can do about it, and if they dont let it fall now it will anyways fall, but then it will be to late to start a reconstruction of the nation. This guy is doing the right thing let it take its real value, because with all this restrictions that the krona has plus haveing to be supported by the central bank, where are we going to end up? the thing is that they dont want to say that their plan didnt work, and that the restrictions like EVERYBODY told them at the beginning, were not goig to work. And now they want to blame the new central bank director. wich by the way is part of the same clan just from another branch.
@Fisy – I merely observed that that Oddsson is continuing to behave erratically and concluded that the country would benefit if he were sedated during waking hours. I cannot see a connection between his state of mind and your questions about the current investigations, the progress of the interim government – or indeed the wholesale price of lentils in Bangladesh…

Indeed, although I am starting to conclude that prefrontal lobotomies would have greater efficacy. Sedatives will of course metabolise away, but permanently disconnecting politicians’ prefrontal connections would protect the general public for much longer.

No one responded to this speech, not even the people who were present have talked about this,
as you know if you saw this it was not a political speech, this was about David and the evil people who took his toy from him, the whole episode was at a very low level, it must have been hard for people who have looked up to him to be subjected to this, and the timing is terrible, no one noticed Bjarni Ben was elected because people where stunned by this weird and unexpected speech
this stunt could have worked with alot of good will if had not said some very destructive things about the partys resurection comitty and destroyed the work some 80 people have spent weeks on doing,
this was like a soap, little Brittain comes to mind.
