Food and Fun over, winners announced

Lamb chopsClaus Henriksen, head chef at Dragsholm Castle by Lammefjord in Denmark, was selected Chef of the Year at Reykjavik’s Food & Fun festival which took place this weekend.

This was the eighth Food & Fun, and this year 16 foreign chefs from Europe and the USA compiled four-curse menus which were on offer at 16 top Reykjavik restaurants.

mbl.is reports that Henriksen was the guest chef at Dill Restaurant in the Nordic House. The judging panel decided that his offering was professionally presented and also the tastiest.

There was a separate prize for the best fish dish at the festival, which went to Stephen Lewandowski from Tribeca Grill in New York. He was the guest chef at Brasserie Grand.

Dutchman Alfred Van Dijk, guest chef at Vid Tjornina, won best meat dish; and Lisa Ballisager, from Restaurant Kiin Kiin in Copenhagen, won best dessert. She was guest chef at Domo.

The judging panel was made up of Michael Ginor from Hudson Valley Foi Gras in New York; Flora Mikula from Flora in Paris; Jonas Lundgren, silver prize winner at the Bocuse d’or competition 2009; William Kovel from the Boston Four Seasons Hotel; and Jeffrey Buben, a known Icelandophile and owner of Vidalia and Bistro bis in Washington DC.
