Hire a skilled sculptor to re-cut and freshen up the runes. The authenticity of the carvings will not be affected! Why is erosion O.K. but, not restoration? Re-cutting and pressure washing will restore the stones to what they looked like perhaps a mere century after they were initially made. This is not hard to fix.
