Around 30 people are currently protesting outside the Icelandic parliament building. The protesters are angry that Iceland has not been outspoken in its criticism of Israel’s current military operations in the Gaza Strip, according to MBL.is.
The group is now outside parliament, but originally met this morning on the lawn of the Prime Minister’s office. Police are following the protesters, but have not yet done anything to intervene.
Some of the protesters are lying on the front steps of parliament, meaning police may see fit to move them should access to the building be significantly impeded.

Israel has killed over a 1000 people in Gaza over half civilians. Hamas has interned killed 11 israelis (last time i checked) since the war started. That means Israels have killed about 100 times as many people as Hamas and also a higher percentage of civilians.
I don’t know how you could justify that? And not only that the whole of Gaza is one big concentration camp which the palestinians can’t leave and is poor, overcrowded and if it wasn’t foor food aid would face starvation.
It’s no wonder the palestinians are attacking the ones who put them in that prison. Wouldn’t you?

Easy. Proportionality is an invalid argument.
The Gazans can’t have it both ways. If they elect a government that attacks Israel whilst hiding within populated areas then they’ve got to expect a response eventually.
Of course, you close with the classic “it’s no wonder that they attack” argument. But the counter to that will always be that it’s no wonder that they’re attacked in return.
That’s fine if they think that they have a reasonable chance of winning (although if they still define winning as pushing all of the Jews into the sea then they’d better look at a map). If they’re just lashing out then it’s suicide, but again that’s their choice.

Unfortunately this is true, however you have the parties mixed up. It’s Hamas that won the 2006 elections and Fatah that effectively refused to hand over power to Hamas, which led to their “coup” in Gaza.
Of course, if they’d held another election the day after that one back in 2006 then the result may well have been a Fatah victory (the actual vote count was pretty much tied, but presumably that was skewed by a first past the post counting system). Still, that’s the risk you take when you vote for an extreme change, whether as a protest vote or because you just don’t understand what you’re voting for.
Anyhoo, if Hamas hadn’t been voted in I’m not convinced they’d be any closer to peace. The issue of the West Bank settlements would have become more important to the PA.

There is a very simple explanation for that: Hamas uses civilians as a human shield for their terrorist leaders. They use innocent people to take the full blow in the name of Allah, as opposed to the Israeli, who fight fair against a power that is trying to destroy them. TH international opinion is against Israel, because of all the media coverage and the so-called attacks on civilians, but the real force to blame is Hamas and their muslim fanatic allies

I’m sorry if your world view is so simple that you have to get worked up when someone dies. A lasting peace is more important than human lives as, over the long term, there will be fewer deaths and less misery.
Now it’s a fair argument to make that targeting Hamas but hitting a load of civilians is going to make that peace harder, but that’s obviously not how the Israeli leadership (and people) feel. Ultimately, they know more about it that any foreigner, whether bleeding-heart liberal or a cynical, disgusting person like myself (aka realist).

Final point. Killing is not always wrong. There is the concept of self defence. We can argue as to whether the force used is proportional, but as I said in my first post that’s (to my mind) an invalid argument.

Israel is like apartheid South Africa. They pushed out many of the Palestinians onto marginal “homelands” such as Gaza, raze the previous Arab villages, and then give the land to Jewish people. This ethnic cleansing and permanent refugee status was not tolerated in the Balkans. Far from being persecuted, the Jewish people are the beneficiaries of a double standard. Thanks to previous European ethnic cleansing during world war 2 current European governments do nothing. How about an economimc embargo just like with South Africa? There is still too much guilt and conflictual feelings about European anti jewish pogroms for the Europeans to ever do anything substantial. Well, it wasn’t just the Europeans giving it away. The UN approved it (including the US and USSR).
The Jews themselves were the driver of immigration to what was Palestine (the Zionist movement). They wouldn’t have wanted anywhere else. Actually, the British improsed strict restrictions on the level of Jewish immigration at the start of WWII and the vast majority of immigration after 1939 occurred after independence.
The Palestinians didn’t want to share along the lines of the Partition Plan, bearing in mind that 25% of the people in Palestine were Jewish. The rest is current events.
It’s worth noting that Palestine hasn’t ever existed as a country (until, briefly, in 1948). When it has existed, it has always been an administrative district.

Not really. There were ~2m people in 1947 (of which ~500k were Jewish). Immigration after 1939 but before independence was ~110k (it might be that I’m reading that wrong and that it should be 200k). Immigration 1948-1950 was ~500k.

I’m sure that you, as presumably someone who hasn’t lived in fear like a Gazan has (and I’m not talking about the past few weeks), can see where this sort of statement can easily take you.
If your mother and father were muslims, just because of where they were born and not because of what they’d come to believe, then you would be a muslim. And then you’d be less into this peace and love stuff, especially if you lived in Gaza :) .
Iceland. Apart from being a poor country is perhaps the most homogeneous, isolated place I’ve ever visited. The idea of these clueless Icelanders protesting concerning the middle east is both amusing and sort of sad too.
I would suggest more energy put into basic education — economics for starters.
