Iceland advertises as winter destination

iceland2006_129Some 100 million Icelandic kronur (USD 1,080,964 EUR 762,726) will be spent in a special campaign over the coming months to promote Iceland abroad as an interesting autumn and winter travel destination, according to MBL.is.

It is thought the campaign will be a cooperation between the Ministry of Trade and Industry and private businesses in the travel sector, coordinated by the Icelandic Tourist Board. The campaign was announced at the Vestnorden travel festival currently being held in Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Preparations for the campaign are apparently well underway, and will appear in all the major markets for Icelandic tourism: the USA, Scandinavia, the UK and several countries in mainland Europe.

The campaign is not intended to benefit any travel company in particular, but rather to pique the interest of potential visitors to Iceland and hopefully get them excited about visiting.
