BBC, Netflix and RUV to work on a crime documentary

Netflix is to finance a documentary about Iceland’s most famous crimes “The Guðmundar- and Geirfinnur Case”. The production is in the hands of local production company Sagafilm, the project is a cooperation between them, the BBC, RUV and the US content provider Netflix.

According to MBL.is the documentary will be called “Out Of Thin Air” and Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds will be making the sound track.

According to said Margaret Jónasdóttir, manufacturer of Sagafilm, Interviews have already been taken to people related to the case, but more need to be taken.

According to local news this is the first projects of its kind that Netflix invests in, total of 20 people are involved in the preparation, most of them Icelandic. The documentary is to be released in the first months of 2017.

The “Guðmundar- and Geirfinnur Case” dates back to 1974, is murder/ missing person case and has been high profile since it started.
