Designer thieves busted in Denmark

A gang suspected of stealing thousands of dollars-worth of high-end designer furnishings has been arrested by police in Denmark. The group, which broke into houses exclusively to steal Oriental carpets, designer furniture and expensive porcelain, was apprehended by police in Jutland on Tuesday, April 24.

Three presumed ringleaders and seven accomplices were taken into custody in a series of raids at 14 locations throughout Jutland. A sizable amount of high-end goods was also recovered.

The investigation, which begun in February, was headed by a special organised crime unit known as Task Force West. The three main suspects all come from the Jutland area and are aged between 25 and 30, according to police.

Task Force West leader Kirsten Fischer told the Copenhagen Post that the team’s focus will now shift towards gathering evidence.

“It was a good and effective day,” Fischer said. “Now comes the slower follow up work of identifying the various crime scenes and finding the owners of all the stolen goods we have recovered,” he said.
