Inspired by Iceland’s live music festival video stream proves success

Inspired by Iceland’s live stream of the Aldrei fór ég suður music festival in the Westfjords proved to be a massive success with over 35,000 people tuning in to enjoy the festivities.

Since the festival began in 2004 it has gone from strength to strength, and this year’s event turned out to be bigger than ever. Masses of people arrived in the town of Ísafjörður to attend the music festival, with noticeably more tourists attending in comparison to previous years.

The festival first began as an idea between Ísafjörður natives Mugison and his father. They were both keen to showcase local talent along with live performances from some of the biggest names in the Icelandic music scene.

Amongst others who played at Aldrei fór ég suður 2012 were Sykur, Muck, Gang Related, HAM, Vintage Caravan, Reykjavík!, Retro Stefson, Skálmöld, Mugison, Klysja, Dúkkulísur, Pollapönk, Guðrið Hansdóttir, Jón Jónsson, and many more.
