Music festival in Iceland’s Westfjords streams live tonight

‘Never been south’, otherwise known as Aldrei fór ég suður, an annual music festival that takes place in Ísafjörður in Iceland’s Westfjords, will be streamed live tonight and tomorrow by the tourism campaign Inspired by Iceland.

The music festival brings together live performances from local bands with the biggest names in the Icelandic music scene, all surrounded by the beautiful mountain slopes and quaint, colourful town houses of Ísafjörður.

The festival first began as an idea between Icelandic musician Mugison and his father, both of them Ísafjörður natives. They were both keen to showcase the town’s vibrant music scene, and wanted to have as much fun as possible while doing it. Since, the festival has gone from strength to strength, with festival-goers praising the relaxed atmosphere, unique location and the consistently strong festival line-up.

The Iceland tourism initiative offered a live video stream of the festival for the first time last year, and due to its success will again be streaming the festival live via its website this year.

Scheduled to play at Aldrei fór ég suður this year are Sykur, Muck, Retro Stefson, Skálmöld, Mugison, Klysja, Dúkkulísur, Pollapönk, Guðrið Hansdóttir, Jón Jónsson, and many more.
