Music festival in Iceland to be streamed live online by Inspired by Iceland

Aldrei fór ég suður (Never been south), an Icelandic music festival taking place between 6-7 April 2012 in Iceland’s Westfjords, is to be streamed live via the Inspired by Iceland website.

The music festival in Ísafjörður brings together live performances from local bands with the biggest names in the Icelandic music scene, all surrounded by the beautiful mountain slopes and quaint, colourful town houses.

Aldrei fór ég suður first began as an idea between Icelandic musician Mugison and his father, both of them Ísafjörður natives. They were both keen to showcase Ísafjörður’s vibrant music scene, and wanted to have as much fun as possible while doing it.

Since its inception in 2004, the festival has gone from strength to strength, with festival-goers praising the relaxed atmosphere, unique location and the consistently strong festival line-up.

Last year, Inspired by Iceland offered a live video stream of the festival for the first time, giving music lovers across the world a chance to tune in and be a part of one of Iceland’s most celebrated music festivals. Due to the success of the live stream in 2011, the tourism campaign will again be streaming the festival live via its website.

Artists scheduled to play this year include Sykur, Muck, Retro Stefson, Skálmöld, Mugison, Klysja, Dúkkulísur, Pollapönk, Guðrið Hansdóttir, Jón Jónsson, and many more.

To view the live video stream of the festival, visit www.inspiredbyiceland.com on Friday 6th April at 8 pm (GMT) and Saturday 7th April from 6 pm onwards.
