Whale watching season in Iceland to begin

The exciting whale watching season is soon to begin, giving visitors the change to experience one of the most popular spring and summer activities in Iceland. The crystal clear Icelandic waters provide the ideal place to see Minke Whales, Humpback Whales, White Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises.

Icelandair, Iceland’s leading airline, is offering its ‘Whale Watching City Break’ package deal to Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik for UK travellers until the end of October. The package deal includes return flights to Iceland from Glasgow, London Heathrow, or Manchester, three nights accommodation, and a whale watching trip with tour provider, Elding.

The whale watching trip will be scheduled for the day after arrival, where visitors set sail from the old harbour in Reykjavik to Faxafloi Bay, a beautiful body of water with great views of Mount Esja on a clear day. Each tour is different, with sightings almost guaranteed, especially with the most common whales, Minke and Humpback; expect to see Puffins and Guillemots too.

Furthermore, Iceland’s ‘Whale Watching City Break’ allows for plenty of free time to plan other activities, such as exploring the Golden Circle, which visits several of Iceland’s natural highlights like the exciting Geysir area and the picturesque Gullfoss waterfall.
