Winter Blue Lagoon city breaks in Iceland

Iceland is fast becoming the ideal destination for city breaks throughout the tail end of 2010, as the cold winter months bring a sense of magic to the island. In response, Icelandair is now offering Reykjavik city breaks with a free day trip to the popular Blue Lagoon, to relax under the cover of the Northern Lights.

The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa, situated in a lava field on the Reykjanes Peninsula, is one of the country’s most visited attractions and is a must see; just a short drive from the capital city, Reykjavik. The geothermal seawater that floods the lava formation is piped directly from its original source to the Blue Lagoon. Guests then enjoy the relaxing 40 °C temperatures and the beneficial active ingredients that have positive effects on the skin.

The wonderful spa area is spacious, and more than one treatment can take place simultaneously, making it possible for couples and friends to have a treatment together. The geothermal spa also accommodates the Lagoon bar, which serves guests relaxing in the lagoon with light refreshments such as drinks, ice cream, fruits and baguettes.

The Blue Lagoon is also famous for its Lava Restaurant, which is built into the lava surroundings. The restaurant offers a delicious a la carte menu as well as a great selection for kids, making it ideal for all the family to enjoy whilst admiring the breathtaking surroundings.

Icelandair’s Blue Lagoon city break offer includes return economy class flights from London, Manchester or Glasgow, as well as 3 nights accommodation, Blue Lagoon transfer and entrance fee, plus breakfast at selected hotels.
