Faulty information to seven Icelandic voters means new election

votingThe Reykholahreppur municipality in the southern Westfjords region of Iceland will have to repeat the recent local elections all over again.

The problem is that the seven registered voters on the island of Flatey did not receive the correct information about absentee voting rights.

The committee assembled to investigate the mistake has now ruled that the result of the whole election will be nullified and new elections will take place.

The current council will continue its work until the new elections take place at an unspecified time in the future.
