Iceland wins Schoolovision 2010

iceland-flag-littleFlataskoli School, from Gardabaer near Reykjavik, has won Schoolovision 2010 on behalf of Iceland. Schoolovision is an internet based eTwinning initiative based on the Eurovision Song Contest.

34 European countries compete in the Schoolovision competition, creating their own music videos which are then voted on, just like in the real Eurovision. The exciting voting procedure took place this morning in a live webcast.

Iceland’s Flataskoli scored 252 points to win and the Czech Republic’s entry scored 236 points to finish second.

A group of eight girls from Year 5 organised the group and their entry was a rendition of ABBA’s Dancing Queen.

Schoolovision was held for the first time last year, RUV reports – and Flataskoli finished fourth.
