The Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs has opened a new website about Iceland’s European Union membership application. The site allows visitors to follow the application process closely, see the detailed list of questions the Icelandic government has been asked to answer in a long questionnaire and to see details of negotiations.
Ossur Skarphedinnson, the country’s Foreign Minister told Visir.is that the new information website on Iceland’s EU application will be a strong and reliable source of information for all stakeholders to follow the issue. “It is really important for Icelanders to follow the process closely from beginning to end and come to an informed opinion on the negotiation outcomes when it comes to the national referendum. I hope this homepage will help in this respect,” he said.
The new website can be viewed here (in Icelandic).
