Icelandic newspaper DV is searching for its first Hero of the Year. Readers are invited to send the name or names of those they deem worthy of the title DV Hero of 2008 for something remarkable they have done in the year now coming to an end.
All Icelandic citizens and people living in Iceland are eligible for the award and everybody is free to send in their recommendations. It makes no difference if the nominees are nationally famous, les well-known or not known at all; rich, poor or somewhere in the middle; “Outvasion Viking”, fishwife or exterminator – everyone is equal in this election.
If a nominee has not featured in the news for his/her heroics, then the nominator should include a description of why the nominee deserves the recognition. The winner will be decided by a specially selected judging panel, about which DV will release more details as they become available.
It is possible to send nominations either to the email address: hetjaarsins@dv.is or send them to: Birtíngur útgafufélag, Lýnghalsi 5, 110 Reykjavík, Iceland. The deadline for applications is midnight 23rd December and the result will be announced around the New Year.
In other words you cannot become a free citizen until you sign yourself into freedom using your autograph.
People should stop asking other countries to ´adopt´or ´adapt´people like Barack Obama.
We don´t need them.
What we need is real leaders , not somebody who talks about hope and change on one hand and some NWO on the other.
We need real people who represent our interests and the best people we can find who can do that will not do it for us , but will be those who share mind – patterns. YOU faciliate those who have the same mimd – pattern as that which YOU have to represent YOUR interests.
But a genuine leader you will not have until you allow that person to manifest in your life.
If that leader is going to be you then the need for other leaders or symbols of leadership becomes irrelevant.
Stop being obsessed about Barack Obama and taking aspartame and go get real.
I WOULD NOMINATE FOR DV “HEROES” THE FEW HUNDREDS OF ICELANDERS WHO ARE PROTESTING IN A DAILY BASIS FOR THIS CONTRY TO GET BACK TO DEMOCRACY, BECAUSE THE 349.000 REST OF THE LAMBS JUST KEEP HOME WATCHING TV AND SAYING THAT EVERYTHING IS OKAY AND SINGING “ÍSLAND STÆRSTA LAND Í HEIMI” ( ICELAND THE BIGGEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!) EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE LOST THEIR JOBS, THEIR SAVINGS AND ARE DRINKING THEMSELVES TO DEATH AND GETTING IN FIGHTS DOWNTOWN BECAUSE THEY ARE SO ANGRY. FIGHTING EACH OTHER WHEN THEY SHOULD FIGHT AGAINST THEIR OPPRESSORS IN A PACEFUL AND CIVILIZED WAY TO SHOW THAT THEY DON’T AGREE WITH HOW THINGS ARE… BUT THEY SEEM TO AGREE…!!!
ICELANDERS HAVE A LOT OF POSSIBILITIES AND CAPABILITIES, BUT THEY JUST DON’T USE THEM!!!
I would nominate the band Sigur Ros because they are brilliant and prove that there is also a lot of positive energy and creativity in Iceland!
