Iceland Express in accommodation deal with Expedia

Iceland ExpressLow-cost airline Iceland Express has recently signed a two-year agreement with travel services company Expedia, reports InternetTravelNews.com.

Iceland Express customers can now make hotel reservations through the airline’s website using the Expedia booking engine. The service lets Iceland Express passengers book accommodation at each of the airline’s 14 destinations in Europe, including Paris, Barcelona, London, Berlin and Warsaw.

The deal, which came into affect at the end of 2007, marks the first time Iceland Express has been able to provide its customers with such a variety of hotel choices. The airline will also continue its collaboration with Reykjavik Hotels to offer accommodation options in Iceland.

CEO of Iceland Express, Matthias Imsland, said: “Our key destinations are all growing in popularity with visitors, and it was important for us to be able to offer the widest selection of hotels and destination services to our clientele. Signing this two-year deal with Expedia Distribution puts us in a very strong position to do this.”

Expedia senior vice president, David Roche, said: “Expedia has provided Iceland Express with a simple, easy to use booking tool that adds to its hotel offering and enhances the experience for its passengers.”

Iceland Express is based at Keflavik International Airport near Reykjavik and offers flights to 14 European cities. This year will see the airline celebrate its fifth anniversary and commence direct flights from Akureyri and Egilsstadir in Iceland to Copenhagen, Denmark.
